Gardein® Beastie Burger Patty Melt

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise or vegan alternative
  • 3 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Vlasic® Sweet Relish
  • 1 tablespoon Hunt's® Tomato Ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika


  • PAM® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray
  • 1 teaspoon butter or vegan alternative
  • 2 slices yellow onion
  • 1 Gardein® Ultimate Plant-Based Burgers
  • 1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard
  • 2 slices American cheese or vegan alternative
  • 2 slices potato bread, generously buttered on one side

  • Prep - SPECIAL SAUCE: Combine the mayonnaise, mustard, relish, ketchup, vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika in a medium bowl and whisk until well blended. PATTY MELT BURGER: Spray a large griddle or cast-iron skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium-high heat. Add the butter and sliced onions and cook, stirring every so often, until the onions have a nice sear to them, 4 to 5 minutes. Set aside.


  • Combine -Wipe the griddle clean and return to medium-high heat. Put the plant-based burger patty on the griddle. Spoon about 1 teaspoon mustard (or squeeze directly from the bottle) onto the top side of the patty. Cook burger according to package directions.


  • Create - Spread some Special Sauce on each piece of the unbuttered side of bread, then add 1 slice of American cheese, 1 patty, some onions, a second slice of cheese, and top with the additional slice of bread. Return to griddle and cook 2-3 minutes per side, until bread is toasted golden brown and the cheese is melted. Transfer to a cutting board, cut patty melt in half on the diagonal, and serve.
